I have noticed that too you should be able to add them via iTunes. I think with the pending release of the iPhone 2.0 and its new software / apps apple have pulled the update for now and once the iphone 2.0 update becomes available and then it will be bundled in with it? Thats my guess anyway.

Ok you have a netgear router, so open up your web browser on your computer and type http://192.168.0.1 then you will need to enter a username and password this is most likley user = admin and password = password if this fails you will need to consult your router docs or the isp you got the router from. Once you are into your routers admin page you then need to find wireless settings / set up link you should then see WEP Key you must have had this at some point to connect your computer to your wirless network, you should then be able to view and change your current WEP key thus allowing you to enter it in to your iPod Touch.

I will write a full tutorial on this over the comming days wich will include pictures and may be if your all really lucky a video.

Provided you have wireless broadband then you can connect your iPod touch to the internet it makes no odds if you have a laptop or desktop computer.

Surfing the web on the iPod Touch costs you nothing provided you already have a wireless internet connection (Please read the other questions) the ipod touch connects to the internet just like a wifi enabled laptop or computer. You can add applications and games to your ipod and I have posted a great website which offers these by the ton. As for the browser as far as I am aware you have to use safari, that said it is every bit as good a FF and much better than IE.

1). The only difference between the 8gb and 16gb is storage space.
2). Nope its built for the net. 3). Depends on the exchange rate + shipping cost + taxes 4). As with all things Apple the iPod Touch works straight from the box, you will need a wireless internet connection or hot spot to access the internet as you would on a Mac,Laptop or PC of course. You can download many games and apps for the iPod Touch and now the iPhone SDK is here you can be sure there will be plenty more on their way.

Hi Tyler,

No the iPod touch connects to the internet via a WiFi connection just like a laptop or Home Computer. You need a Hot Spot or wireless home broadband to connect your ipod touch to this can be shared with your laptop or Computers WiFi connection so you don't need a seperate Wirless broadband account for your iPod Touch.

If you don't have wireless broadband or a hot spot near by then you will need to look at signing up to a wireless broadband provider most provide you with a wireless router and full instructions on how to get connected and the monthly fee.

You can check that Wi-Fi is enabled on your iPod Touch by pressing the settings button on the main screen then going to wifi at the top of the settings menu and making sure that wifi is on.

Hi Jaz, If you are talking about via iTunes then it won't be until the end of the year, my guess September time. but you can rip dvd's and or video files for you ipod touch, classic and nano for that matter using all manor of free software check out this blog on MacOffers.co.uk for a step by step ( you will need to change to resoloution settings for the ipod touch) or give this one a whirl DVD to ipod touch.

I get allot of questions like yours, so maybe I am not explaining it all that well. Lets start with a hot spot this is an area covered by an accessible wireless network - sometimes these are charged, pay per min,per hour or one off fee and sometimes these make you connect via a webpage and then they show you a sponsored add at a set amount of time to subsidise the service (No cost to you ** unless you click an add and buy something). How to pay if required again varies you can pay by card or if in a hotel on your bill or if in an internet cafe or bar you can pay at the counter but they all vary. Check out the hotspot site higher up on the list for hotspots near you together with more detailed info on how each provider charges / subsidises their service.

if you have broadband at home and a wireless router you don't have to pay any additional costs to connect your ipod touch to your network its just the same as running additional PC's off your home wireless.

Hi Craig, I have a netgear router to, I would enter 192.168.0.1 as your gateway ip and 255.255.255.0 as your subnet your ipod touch should then be issued with an ip, if you get a conflict and it is asking you for the ipods ip go with 192.168.0.75 you may then be asked for a password this will be your wep-key to find this out get on your Mac or PC open safari or IE and type http://192.168.0.1 enter admin for the username and admin for the password or password for the password and you will find your wep-key under the set up menu. Are you trying to do this through iTunes? when you connect it to your Mac or PC it will sync with your local iTunes library you need to tell iTunes you want to manage your own library open iTunes go -> Edit -> Preferences - Syncing optoins "tab" and check disable automatic iPod and iPhone syncing.

Most likley your gateway ip will be 192.168.0.1 your subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and set your ipods ip to 192.168.0.75 if it is not automaticly issued one by DHCP from your router. if asked for a password you will need to find your wep-key this will either be on a sticker underneath your router and in your routers admin panel -- see a couple of posts up.

The iPod Touch is pretty smart it will remember your wifi settings so you don't have to keep adding them in.

To set the time zone on your ipod touch from the Home screen tap Settings > General > Date & Time, then turn Time Zone Support on.Then tap Time Zone and search for a major city in the time zone you are in. Jobs a good un ! :)

You are in luck my friend you can manualy manage your library in iTunes go edit -> Preferences -> syncing tab then check the box to disable the automatic syncing.

I tend to steer away from these questions as media file sizes vary so much its almost impossible to answer.

It's made by Apple - Take a look see on google or any search engine for that matter to my knowlage there have only ever been 56 viruses that have affected Macs compare that with a PC, Apple computers don't suffer these problems spyware, malware viruses are things us Mac users just don't need to worry about. While there are free and paid anti-virus software available for the Mac you don't really need it on the Touch you are just sufring dude! and talking of surfing this weekends looking like 4 foot and clean - I'll be down at croyde bay :)

Apple iPod Touch Wi-Fi set up.

I have had so many questions about setting up the Wi-Fi connection I have decided to write some tips, please remember there are so many different routers I couldn’t possibly know everything about each one. So you may need to read the documentation for your router to find out how to administer its settings the tips bellow are general and should fix 99.9% of all the questions I have had relating to this problem.

Check that Wi-Fi is enabled on your iPod Touch press the settings button on the main screen then go to wifi at the top of the settings menu and make sure that wifi is on. You should then be presented with a list of wireless networks available, tap the wireless network name you want to connect to if a password (WEP or WAP key) is required you will be asked to enter it.

You will need to know what your routers WEP or WAP key is, a lot of routers have a sticker on the base with the WEP or WAP key printed on, others require you to go into the routers configuration screen to find it. This can normally be found by going to http://192.168.0.1 or http://bthomehub for BT Home Hub users from your computer using a web browser. Once you have found your WEP or WAP Key go back to your iPod Touch select your wireless network (your router) and when prompted for a password enter your WEP or WAP Key.

If you still fail to connect check your router does not have MAC address filtering on again you can do this by going to your routers configuration screen. You may also want to check your router has issued your iPod Touch an IP address, to do this tap settings look at the choose a network area and tap on the small blue arrow to the right of your network. If no IP address is present turn off your router and wait a couple of minutes then turn it back on again to renew the IP’s.

Hopefully we now have 99.9% of you online and Wi-Fi worry free :¬)

Hi James, Not that I am aware of no there is a great site full of 3rd party apps might be worth checking out iPod Touch apps.

Hi Megan, You can access the hubs admin page by opening your web browser and typing http://192.168.1.254 the default admin user name and password are both "admin" you can then set up your WEP key for other devices to gain access.

Hi Greg, There seems to be some confusion as to the WiFi connection on the iPod Touch - it works the same as a wireless laptop or Computer you need a service provider to connect, so if you have broadband at home then you simply need a wirless router, if you are out and about you can find wirless hot spots some of these may charge you a small fee while others will show you ads every fifteen munites or so surfed. The iPod touch does not charge you in any way for viewing content, But you do need a wireless internet connection.

Hi Ben, I am not 100% on this but I should think you will be able to as the USB Connector will act as a gateway and the iPod Touch can connect to almost any wireless gateway.

Hi Sian, No it doesn't but Currys offer a "what ever happens" insurance cover for most things purchased through their store at a reasonable cost. If you have house insurance I am sure it would be covered on that within your home but you would need to check with your insurer.

Hello Again George, Yes you can use Tabs well kind of there is an icon in the lower right hand corner that allows you to open an additional page. As for the Movies it really depends on the size and quality if it was a full DVD for instance it would take up, up to 4.7 GB and beyond in some cases but movies ripped for iPods are normally much smaller. If it were a movie from the iTunes store the file sizes are shown and you can always store them on your computer and switch them around at your convenience.

Hi Justin, Safari is like any other web browser internet explorer or firefox for instance, But better of course - it's from Apple. To download content on to your iPod Touch you can either sync with your Mac or PC and add Music, Videos and photos via iTunes or use the iTunes wifi store to buy or download media directly and once docked your iPod and new content will automaticly sync with the iTunes software on your computer. The iPod Touch will connect to any wireless network you have access to. So say you have a home wireless network you can connect to that any time you like. Lots of Towns in the UK have Wireless hotspots some of these may charge you a fee to surf the internet for a set period of time. Others may be free and others may ask you to connect via a web-page which will show you adverts every 15 mins or so in place of a payment. The iPod Touch itself will not charge you for going on the internet and is ready to connect straight from the box, but in order for you to connect you will need a wireless network provider, this is where charges can come in> If you do not have wirless internet at home and or want to know where wireless hotspots are near you take a look at this website http://www.myhotspots.co.uk/ enter your town or postcode then you can view details of providers near you and any fees charged.

Hello Luke, The iPod Touch can connect to any WiFi hot spot be it paid or free. There is no charge for using the internet on the iPod Touch, it works as a wirless laptop does. Some Wifi hot spots will charge you a fee for using their service others may ask you to logon via a web page and show you ads for every x minutes surfed this varys from provider to provider but you will always be ask to pay any fee up front and have the option of accepting and using the service or not to.

Hi George, Yes the iPod touch will flip to landscape when browsing the web just as it does for cover flow, you can also "pinch" this allows you to zoom right in on any section of the web page you desire.

Hi Dash, It is up to you if you want the mobile then wait until november the 9th and buy an iPhone, but rememeber you need to sign up to a 2 year fixed contract with o2, so if you can live without or don't really want the mobile aspect then the iPod Touch is for you.

The iPod Touch charges via the USB dock, a mains charger costs from as little as £3.99

As for transferring your media from your PC yes you can transfer anything you on to it and the Wi-Fi works with any gateway Free or Paid.
